v1.4.6: Sort & Order your Products via AJAX, Drag and Drop!

Postby ThemeFluent » Fri Nov 30, 2012 4:18 pm

v1.4.6 is released now and it comes with one major feature, many have been waiting for it!

Now you can show your products in the store the way YOU want them to appear. Control the order of your products via a simple, ajax, drag and drop!
Now you can sort/re-order your products easily, move your products all around in the order you wish, and they will be displayed in that order.

Watch it in live action? See the following screencast:
http://www.screenr.com/cO17

Sold items are marked as Out of Stock automatically!

Smarter Stock Alerts!
Instead of showing that item cannot be ordered due to out of stock, it precisely display to the customer how many items are left in stock from that item.

I hope you like and enjoy the new update!

Thanks you very much! :)

So after updating my theme to this version it again produced a fatal upon clicking any of my products... this time I caught a screen shot of it so you can see what is happening. I was able to get the products to work again by once again clicking "save" in any of the OC admin screens, however it again wiped out my "styles" attribute, and this time when I added it back, ALL of the items I had created in Styles were gone...

I am assuming that WP is having a hard time understanding the custom attributes after the theme update... which may be what is kicking the error.

Not cool. So... I will be spending awhile trying to get all my styles created again, then I have to add the styles back to each product (again). Not trying to bitch, but it is sort of a pain in the ass.

I am hoping that with future updates there will be a way to retain the custom attributes we create, otherwise that feature is sort of futile as it keeps getting wiped out with every update.

Just my .02. Here's a screen shot of the error:

I am aware now of the bug, and I am exploring a solution to it to make WP remember the custom taxonomies you created. :)

As i already said this new update feature (drag and drop to reorder products) is fabulous.
Can this be taken ahead one more step.

1. Means, how will it work for stores having large number of products.
And if we need to drag bottom most products to Top position. We have to drag and drop the long way, that we don't want to.
Currently, I have no Clue to overcome this situation, if you have got some better idea, then please look into that.

2. What if we want to drag multiple products at a time to one place. (It would be hectic and time consuming to drag and drop products one-by-one for those we wish to do at ONCE and all of them at one place)
It would be much convenient and better if we could select randomly (using Ctrl key) and in sequence (using Shift key) the products for which we want to change the order and then Drag the selected products all at ONCE.

For products that are being selected or highlighted in "Drag and drop" window, A slight colourful border on edges of product block would be appreciable and eye-catching for convenience.
One would easily come to know which product is being selected and is being dragged-to-drop to new place.

Thanks :)

Hi Nicky, there is no solution to number 1 as far as I think, you must drag it manually by hand. :)

OK, If i come up with any idea on point number 1 i will let you know. May be someone else have got some idea. :)

Can I ask about point number 2. I know that is possible for you and ofcourse would be convenient too.

And the point regarding last paragraph would be attractive and convenient too, if implemented.
Thanks :)

I am happy, developer like you are here on Themeforest and giving Wordpress new look and platform :)
